Delightful. I’m sorry you missed the charming Lobster Lane Bookshop in South Thomaston, Maine, a filled-to-bursting warren now permanently closed. It was on the water, a gem.
What a vibrant, joyful read. (Over here it's a certain somebody's wife who does the interrogation of "excessive" book accumulation. We can't help it that the people we love are have unresolved literary issues.) Thank you! And congratulations on your achievement.
Cross-continent moves are clearly different to intercontinental moves. Unfortunately I can't take all the books I have acquired with me as we plan our move out of Singapore. I have to start finding new homes for them - a shame you moved away Amanda!
Find those books a good home, Dina! If I were there, I'd adopt them for you. I imagine there are some great ones on your shelves! Wishing you an easy move back home. I hope to see you again soon on the other continent.
My mother used to say her retirement plan was to haul a little red wagon filled with used books to a quiet beach and read all day -- refill wagon as necessary. She was a brilliant woman.
Another great one, Amanda! I knew you were a kindred spirit. While I went the other way (I moved to digital after moving my father's 4K plus collection around Maine and frankly got tired of it) I still envy those that are brave enough to keep them. They are a comfort, much like your writing. Congratulations on your award; so deserved!
delightful reading! Thank you 🙏 💕 I couldn't agree more. Books are the best company ever.
and many congrats to winning that award 🥂 🎉
Thank you very much, Veronika! I appreciate you taking the time to read (and comment!)!

I rescue records 💕
Records, like books, need the love!
Really love this one! Since buying a Kindle some 20 years ago, I have hardly bought any books, new or used, in paper form. You're inspiring me! :)
So glad you enjoyed it, Allison! Thank you for reading. Give a paper book a try -- it's just like riding a bicycle. Only it's reading a book. :)
An apple fritter with a book is such a delightful combo. Thank you for giving those rescue books a loving home!
Thanks, Joey! An apple fritter with anything can make almost anything a delightful combo, actually.
Congratulations on your award! And thank you for rescuing, re-homing, caring for the books…they need and appreciate you. Enjoyed the essay.
Thanks, Kirsten!

Loved this one...but Helsinki -- LOL!
LOL, Paige, your mom had the right idea! Glad you enjoyed this...and Helsinki! Thank you for reading!

Thank you, Tim! My husband has discovered the books, so I'm writing you from a book-filled, undisclosed location. 😉
Your best yet Amanda. Loved this one! Ellen
Thank so much, Ellen!
Clever and delightfully amusing!
Thank you, Iris!
Excellent. Gives new meaning to the Arcade Fire lyric, “Come on hide your lovers, underneath the covers.”😅
Arigato gozaimasu, Matt!
This was so witty and well written. And the rescues come with names (titles)! 🥰
Thank you, CK!
Congratulations!!! Amazing and well deserved!
Shelly, thank you so much!
Your best essay yet Amanda! Loved it!
Thank you, Ellen!
